Dean Owens & The Sinners have been invited to perform an official showcase at the prestigious Folk Alliance International in Kansas City, Feb 2024. Folk Alliance is “the world’s largest gathering of the folk music industry and community (crossing a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Global Roots, Hip-Hop, Old-Time, Singer-Songwriter, Spoken Word, Traditional, Zydeco, and various fusions).

21 Jun 2023: DEAN JOINS CALEXICO’S JOEY BURNS ON STAGE IN UTRECHT
Dean was delighted to be invited to join Joey Burns on stage for the encore at Calexico’s sold out show at the Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht (Netherlands). They dueted on the beautiful Fortune Teller to the obvious delight of the capacity crowd. Fortunately it was caught on film!
May 2023: SOUTHERN WIND NEWS
After being offline for a few years, Dean’s award winning Southern Wind album is re-released on all digital platforms on Fri 30 June. Pre-save/order from your preferred platform here. It comes with a very special bonus track – Through The Golden Hills – recorded in Nashville as part of the studio sessions with Grammy nominated producer Neilson Hubbard. A big swampy ballad that features some great musicians including Will Kimbrough on guitar and Joshua Britt on mandolin.
Apr 2023: CROWDFUNDER SMASHES TARGET
Dean’s Crowdfunder – Spirit Ridge (In The Footsteps of The Lion Tamer) – smashed through its original target and ended up with over £17k. Huge thanks to all who contributed. Dean will soon be heading to the studio in Crinale (Italy) to start work in the first stage of the recording
Apr 2023: MOTHER ROAD – VIDEO PREMIERE
The video for Mother Road (from the upcoming double album release El Tiradito (The Curse of Sinner’s Shrine) is premiered by Americana UK, who say: “Their musical layers and textures reinforce Owens’ guitar and absorbing, understated vocal, creating a really cinematic experience. This is superb songwriting, executed brilliantly.“

Mar 2023: EL TIRADITO (THE CURSE OF SINNER’S SHRINE)
NEW RELEASE! Coming soon… El Tiradito (The Curse of Sinner’s Shrine) will be released on 12 May 2023 (Digital and CD) on Netherlands’ Continental Record Services. A double album combining tracks from Sinner’s Shrine sessions, and some recorded long distance with Calexico musicians John Convertino and Martin Wenk, with Tom Hagerman, Naïm Amor and Kevin McGuire. Including an all new instrumental “soundtrack for an imaginary Western” as Dean lets loose his inner Morricone!
20 Mar 2023: CROWDFUNDER CAMPAIGN
Crowdfunder campaign launched for Dean’s next album, Spirit Ridge, to be recorded with Antonio Gramentieri, at Crinale Studio, Italy. It’s been selected to be part of Creative Scotland‘s crowdmatch competition – all pledges will be matched (up to the £15k target) by Creative Scotland’s fund.
