Recommended Artists

These are some friends of mine, amazing musicians that I really think you should check out.

Calexico “Desert Noir” legends who have been the soundtrack to many a road trip, especially in the south western desert states. I was delighted when they invited me to record Sinner’s Shrine with them, at Wave Lab Studios.

Will Kimbrough Will is from Mobile, Alabama. He’s been based in Nashville for many years now, adding his incredible guitar playing talent to the records and live shows of many amazing artists. From Emmylou Harris to Rodney Crowell, Kim Richey to Josh Rouse to name just a few. As well as being one of the best guitar players on the planet, he’s also a gifted singer and songwriter. He’s played on all my albums, since My Town in 2004. Southern Wind, a song we wrote together, won UK Song of the Year 2019 (UK Americana Music Association awards)

Kirsten Adamson Daughter of Scottish rock legend Stuart Adamson (Big Country/Skids), she spent summers as a kid with him out in Nashville, soaking up the atmosphere. I was delighted to produce her most recent solo album, Landing Place (2023). A distinctive voice and a great songwriter.

Grant Lee Phillips I first stumbled upon Grant Lee Phillips when his band Grant Lee Buffalo performed on Later With Jools Holland in 1993, and was bowled over by his songs, and his voice. In 2017 I was delighted to be invited by him to go on a short tour including London, Dublin and Cork. He also sings backing vocals on one of the tracks on my upcoming album Sinner’s Shrine.
